Privacy Policy

Effective Date: October 7, 2026  |  Version: 2.2 — AI permission

Eden is a product of Lion & Lamb, LLC (“Lion & Lamb,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use Eden.

1. Our Privacy Commitment

Eden is built for mothers navigating the beautiful, complex journey of motherhood. We understand the deeply personal nature of the content you share—from journal reflections to family milestones to prayer requests. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your data is used. We will never sell your personal data.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form). We also store your membership tier, account status, and signup date.

2.2 Family Information

You may choose to share information about your family, including your motherhood stage, relationship status, and number of children. This information helps us personalize your experience. All family information is optional.

2.3 Child Profiles

You may create profiles for your children within Eden, including names, birthdays, and milestones. Child profile data is stored securely and is only visible to you and anyone you explicitly invite (such as a spouse). We do not use child data for advertising and never sell it. If you allow Eden's AI features, the details an answer needs, such as your children's names and ages, are sent to OpenAI to write it, as section 2.6 describes; nothing is sent unless you choose Allow.

2.4 Journal & Reflection Content

Notes, reflections, photos and milestones you record in Eden are your personal content. They are stored securely and are visible only to you and to anyone you explicitly share them with, such as a spouse or a caregiver you invite into your Care Circle. They are never used for advertising and never sold. If you allow Eden's AI features, what an answer needs may be sent to OpenAI to write it, as section 2.6 describes; nothing is sent unless you choose Allow.

2.5 Retired Community & Garden Content

Eden previously offered shared community spaces — the Garden, community circles, feeds, prayer walls and friend connections. Those features have been permanently retired. Once this change reaches the app, that content is no longer displayed anywhere in Eden, Eden has no space where your content is visible to other members, and no new content of that kind can be created.

Removing the underlying records is a separate, later step. Until it is completed, legacy records from those retired features may remain in our systems, and backup copies may persist for the retention period described in section 8. They are not shown to you or to anyone else in the meantime, and you can still ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.

2.6 AI Features and OpenAI

Ask Eden, Chef Eden, Experiences and Eden's personalized wellness insights are written by an AI model from OpenAI. Eden asks your permission before any of these features sends information to OpenAI, and nothing is sent until you choose Allow. When you use one of them, Eden sends what you type or say to that feature and the details from your account the answer needs — for example your first name, your spouse's and children's names, your children's ages, your season or pregnancy week, your cycle, your meals and food allergies, and readings from Apple Health or Oura if you have connected them. For Experiences it also sends the places you pick and, only if you choose “Use my current location”, your location. You can withdraw this permission at any time in Ask Eden › Settings; after that, nothing more is sent.

Recipe ingredient help and nutrition estimates also use OpenAI, but send only ingredient names and amounts — nothing about you — so they do not need this permission.

Your conversations are stored in Eden so you can return to them. We do not sell them, and we share them only as described in this section. We may use anonymized, aggregated interaction patterns to improve our AI features.

Eden sends this information through OpenAI's API, not through ChatGPT. OpenAI states that data sent through its API is not used to train or improve its models unless the customer explicitly opts in to share it. That is about training, not storage: OpenAI keeps abuse-monitoring logs of what is sent for up to 30 days, and longer where the law requires it or where it is reasonably necessary to protect its services or anyone else from harm.

2.7 Usage & Analytics Data

We collect basic usage analytics to understand how Eden is used and to improve the experience. This may include pages visited, features used, device type, and general location (country/region level). Analytics data is aggregated and not tied to your personal journal content. Analytics never include your precise location; the one place Eden can use precise location, only when you ask it to, is described in section 2.11.

2.8 Apple Health

If you connect Apple Health, Eden asks iOS for only the categories you turn on in Eden, and reads only what iOS then allows: Activity — your step count, exercise minutes, active energy, time standing, walking and running distance and flights climbed, and, as a separate choice, your Move, Exercise and Stand rings and their goals; Sleep; Weight (your body weight); and Height. A category you leave off is never requested. If you connected before Eden offered these choices, it reads only your step count, weight and sleep until you choose. Eden can read only what your iPhone, or a device such as an Apple Watch, has recorded in Apple Health. It never writes to Apple Health and requests no clinical or medical records.

These readings are stored against your account so they can appear in your wellness screens over time. They are never used for advertising and never sold. If you allow Eden's AI features, the readings an answer needs are sent to OpenAI, as section 2.6 describes.

You can disconnect Apple Health at any time in Settings. When you do, Eden deletes the daily steps, activity, rings and sleep it imported from that phone, and every weight reading it imported from Apple Health on any device, unless you have since edited it. It does not delete the most recent height it imported: that stays with your account, with the date it was measured, until your account is deleted or you ask us to remove it. Turning a category off stops Eden reading it but does not delete what was already imported. Weights you entered or edited yourself, and a height you typed, are yours and are kept until you delete them.

2.9 Oura

If you connect an Oura ring, Eden reads your sleep — including its stages, your heart-rate variability and your resting heart rate — along with your daily activity, your readiness, and, where you allow it, your heart rate, workouts, sessions, tags, stress and resilience, and the personal details Oura holds such as your age, height and weight.

Eden does not keep a copy of your Oura readings. They are requested from Oura when a screen needs them and are shown to you, not stored. Two exceptions are stored, because they become part of your Eden account rather than a reading: details used to fill in blank fields in your nutrition profile, such as your age or height, and any blooms you earn.

You can disconnect Oura at any time in Settings. Doing so removes Eden's access to your Oura account immediately, so no further readings can be requested. Profile details already filled in remain on your account, and you can change or clear them yourself.

2.10 Your Calendars

If you choose to show your calendars in Eden's Planner, the events already in them are read on your device so they can be displayed to you. Their contents are not uploaded to Eden's servers.

Events you create inside Eden are different: they are yours and Eden's, and they are stored on our servers so they appear on every device you use. If you ask Eden to add one to a calendar on your phone, Eden records which calendar it went to, so it can keep track of the copy it made. Eden never changes or deletes an event it did not create.

2.11 Location

If you use Experiences in your Planner, Eden can ask your device for your current location so it can suggest places near you and estimate how long the drive would take. You can type a city instead — location is never required.

When you do use it, the coordinates are sent to Eden's servers and passed to our mapping provider to answer that one request. They are not stored on your account and are never used for advertising.

2.12 Your Phone Number

If you choose to verify your account by text message, we collect your phone number and send you a code through our messaging provider. We use it to confirm the account is yours and to help you sign back in. It is not used for advertising and is not sold.

2.13 Keeping Eden Working

When a connection to Apple Health or Oura stops working, Eden records what kind of failure it was and when, so it can tell you that something needs reconnecting rather than quietly showing you nothing. That record sits with your account and is replaced the next time the connection is read successfully. It is not used for advertising and is not shared.

Like any online service, Eden's systems also keep operational logs so we can keep the app running and secure. They are not used to build a profile of you and are not used for advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve Eden's features
  • Personalize your experience based on your motherhood stage and preferences
  • Process AI-assisted conversations and reflections
  • Send notifications you've opted into (check-in reminders, etc.)
  • Send Lion & Lamb emails if you've opted in (news, resources, product updates)
  • Ensure the safety and security of our platform
  • Comply with legal obligations

4. Email Preferences

During signup, you may opt in to receive Lion & Lamb emails, including news, product updates, and helpful resources for families. This is entirely optional.

You can change your email preferences at any time through your profile settings within Eden or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. Essential account communications (such as password resets and security notices) are not affected by your marketing email preferences.

5. Third-Party Services

Eden uses a small number of service providers to operate. They act on Eden's instructions and may not use your information for their own purposes:

  • OpenAI — writes the replies for Ask Eden, Chef Eden, Experiences and your personalized wellness insights, only after you allow it. See section 2.6 for what is sent, how to withdraw permission, and what OpenAI says about training and retention.
  • Twilio — sends account verification codes by text message.
  • Resend — sends account and service emails.
  • Google Maps Platform — receives a location or a place name when you use Experiences, to find places and estimate travel time.
  • Amazon Web Services — stores files you upload, such as photos.
  • Cloudflare — serves Eden's recipe images.
  • Apple and RevenueCat — process your subscription and tell Eden whether it is active. Eden never sees your payment details.
  • Railway — hosts Eden's application and database.

We carefully select our service providers and require them to protect your data in accordance with their own privacy policies and applicable law. We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

6. When We Share Your Information

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent — when you explicitly choose to share (for example, inviting a spouse or a caregiver into your Care Circle)
  • Service providers — trusted partners who help us operate Eden, bound by confidentiality obligations
  • Legal requirements — when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights and safety
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice to you

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS/SSL), encrypted password storage (bcrypt hashing), and access controls. While we take security seriously, no system is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your Eden account.

8. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with Eden's services.

Account Deletion: You may request account deletion at any time. Upon deletion, we will remove your personal data, including journal entries, child profiles, and your saved content, within thirty (30) days. Some data may be retained in anonymized form for analytics purposes or as required by law.

Data Access: You can permanently delete your account and its data at any time from Settings. If you have questions about the personal data associated with your account, contact us using the details below.

9. Children's Privacy

Eden is designed for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Child profile information entered by parents is controlled entirely by the parent and subject to the same protections described in this policy. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information.

10. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Correction — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion — request deletion of your data
  • Objection — object to certain processing of your data
  • Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the email below. We will respond within thirty (30) days.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Your continued use of Eden after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
